Choosing adhesive for an EPDM roof
EPDM adhesives are not interchangeable. Selection depends on the membrane construction, substrate, roof area and the location where the adhesive is being used.
Water-based adhesive
Water-based adhesive is used only where the product instructions permit and where the substrate and conditions are suitable. Check coverage and application requirements on the exact product listing.
Contact adhesive
Contact adhesive is commonly specified for particular perimeter areas, upstands or other details. It must be applied to the required surfaces in accordance with the product instructions.
Spray adhesive
Spray-applied products have their own coverage, application and equipment requirements. Confirm pack size, substrate compatibility and method before ordering.
Primer is not adhesive
EPDM primer prepares specified surfaces for compatible tapes and detailing products. It does not replace membrane adhesive.
Cleaner is not primer
Cleaner and primer perform different jobs. Follow the stated preparation sequence for the membrane and detailing product being installed.
