When should I choose fleece-backed EPDM?
Choose FlexiProof fleece-backed EPDM where the reinforced backing and roll-applied seam system suit the deck or refurbishment build-up. Use the dedicated compatible adhesives, primer and seam details rather than one-piece products by assumption.
FlexiProof Fleece-Backed EPDM Full Rolls: questions answered by Forti Nova
What is fleece-backed EPDM?
It is EPDM membrane with an embedded fleece layer for added reinforcement and improved accommodation of minor surface irregularities.
Can it be used for refurbishment or overlay work?
It can suit compatible refurbishment substrates, but the existing roof must be dry, stable and assessed first. Confirm adhesive and substrate compatibility.
Can it hide a damaged deck?
No. Fleece can accommodate minor irregularity, but it cannot make a rotten, wet, loose or structurally unsound deck acceptable.
How are full rolls joined?
FlexiProof literature describes pre-taped Turbo seams on the rolls. Follow the current guide for overlap, preparation, release film and thorough rolling.
Which adhesive should I use?
Use the FlexiProof adhesive specified for fleece-backed membrane and the actual substrate. Main deck areas, perimeters and vertical work can require different products.
Does it need to be dry for installation?
Yes. Install only in suitable dry conditions and within every adhesive and membrane temperature limit.
How are pipes and outlets finished?
Use compatible primer, uncured flashing tape, patches and outlet components. Reinforced membrane alone should not be improvised around complex penetrations.
Is fleece-backed EPDM suitable for DIY?
The system is cold-applied, but rolls, seams and details require planning and correct technique. Forti Nova offers practical product and installation advice.
