Which FlexiProof one-piece EPDM membrane should I buy?

What is an EPDM rubber roof?
EPDM is a flexible synthetic-rubber waterproofing membrane used as the finished covering on flat and low-slope roofs. A one-piece sheet reduces field seams when the roof can be covered in one piece.
Is EPDM rubber waterproof?
Yes, when the complete roof is correctly designed and installed. The membrane, falls, edges, outlets, penetrations and compatible adhesives and tapes must all work together.
What thickness EPDM should I use?
Forti Nova lists 1.20mm and 1.52mm FlexiProof options. The correct thickness depends on the project specification, expected access and roof use.
How do I calculate the EPDM sheet size?
Measure the maximum finished deck length and width, then add the allowance needed to dress into upstands and over edges. Do not order only from the nominal building size.
Does the roof deck need to be dry?
Yes. The deck must be sound, clean and dry. Rain, frost, condensation, dust or contamination can compromise the bond and trap moisture.
Can one-piece EPDM go over old asphalt or bitumen?
Do not bond standard one-piece EPDM directly to an unknown or incompatible covering. Overlay work needs an assessed build-up; fleece-backed EPDM may be more suitable in some refurbishment details.
Can EPDM be used on a pitched roof?
EPDM can suit compatible low-slope and some pitched details, but falls, wind loading, restraint and drainage must be correct. Ask Forti Nova with the pitch and deck build-up.
Can I walk on an EPDM roof?
Occasional access for installation and maintenance is normally possible with care. Regular foot traffic needs a designed protection layer or walkway.
How long can an EPDM roof last?
FlexiProof literature describes a 50-year life expectancy when the system is correctly designed, installed and maintained. Warranty eligibility and terms must be checked separately.
What else do I need with the membrane?
Most roofs also need compatible deck and contact adhesives, edge trims, primer, tapes, outlets and tools selected for the actual design.
